Brave Browser, the privacy-focused web browser, reported robust user growth in April 2026, with its Monthly Active Users (MAU) climbing to 115.26 million. Brendan Eich, CEO of Brave Software, shared the latest usage statistics on social media, highlighting a consistent upward trend across key engagement metrics. This growth underscores the increasing adoption of privacy-centric browsing solutions in the competitive browser market.
According to Eich's tweet, the browser's MAU saw a 2.8% increase when normalized to 31 days. Daily Active Users (DAU) also demonstrated significant momentum, with the High Water Mark DAU reaching 48.98 million, a 4.3% rise, and the 28-day Average DAU growing by 3.5% to 47.01 million. These figures indicate a strong and engaged user base for the platform. Eich emphasized the 28-day Average DAU as the most reliable metric, stating, > "(Why 28-day Avg DAU is the best DAU metric: it's weekend-day + days-in-month invariant.)"
The tweet further detailed that the average DAU:MAU ratio stood at 0.41, marking a 0.01 increase, while daily user-minutes surged by 2.6% to an impressive 6.52 billion. Brave's official blog noted in October 2025 that the browser had surpassed 100 million MAU, with an average of 2.5 million net new users each month over the preceding two years, demonstrating consistent expansion. This growth has been attributed to a global awareness of Brave as an alternative to "Big Tech" browsers.
Despite its significant user base, Brave maintains a niche position in the overall browser market. As of early 2026, while Google Chrome dominates with over 65% of the global market share, Brave typically holds a smaller percentage, often ranging from 0.5% to 3.13% depending on the region and device type. However, its growth trajectory is notable, with privacy browsers like Brave and DuckDuckGo collectively capturing around 2.5% of the market and showing significant increases.
Brave differentiates itself through integrated privacy features, an ad blocker, and its Basic Attention Token (BAT) ecosystem, which rewards users for opting into privacy-preserving ads. The company reported $25 million in revenue for Q1 2025, projecting over $100 million annually, indicating its profitability. Brave's business model, which includes ad revenue sharing and token-based incentives, aligns user and advertiser interests while prioritizing privacy. The browser also continues to expand its ecosystem with features like Brave Search, which reached 20 billion annualized queries by late 2025, and AI offerings such as Ask Brave.
