"We could help patients fight off fungal infections by strengthening their immune systems."
Not a new drug to kill the fungus.
A way to un-blind the body's own defenders.
Antifungal resistance is climbing globally.
Treatment options are already limited.
The WHO has been sounding alarms on exactly this for years, with almost no new antifungal drugs or vaccines in the pipeline.
A therapy that boosts the patient, instead of racing to out-design a shape-shifting fungus, could be the difference maker.
It's early stage.
But it points somewhere powerful: the next breakthrough against superbugs might not come from a new poison.
It might come from teaching the body to see again.
