White Bear Lake, Minnesota – Master Sergeant Nicole Amor, a 39-year-old U.S. Army Reserve soldier from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, was among six American service members killed in a drone attack on March 1, 2026, at Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. The attack, described as the deadliest on U.S. troops since the start of the Iran war, occurred during Operation Epic Fury. Master Sgt. Amor was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), based in Des Moines, Iowa.
The incident involved an unmanned aircraft system attack that also wounded 20 other personnel. According to reports, the strike came a day after the U.S. and Israel launched a significant military operation in Iran. Master Sgt. Amor was just days away from returning home to her family in Minnesota when the attack took place.
U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar honored Amor's sacrifice, stating on Memorial Day, "On Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and remember the families who carry their legacy forward. That includes Joey Amor and the Amor kids & family. Nicole Amor of White Bear Lake died this year in Kuwait, bravely serving our nation." Senator Klobuchar added, "Our soldiers’ sacrifice can never be forgotten."
The tragic loss prompted widespread mourning, with the White Bear Lake community and Minnesota officials paying tribute. The U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution honoring Master Sgt. Amor and the other fallen service members, extending sympathies to their families. Her husband, Joey Amor, shared that he had spoken with her just two hours before her death.
Controversy emerged following reports suggesting Master Sgt. Amor might have survived her injuries had there been adequate medical support at the base. An Army major reportedly told CBS News that requests to enhance medical facilities weeks prior to the attack were ignored by the Pentagon, a claim the Pentagon disputed by stating it took "extraordinary steps" to protect U.S. troops. Master Sgt. Amor is survived by her husband and two children.
