Parliament passed the SHANTI Act — Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy through Technology in India.

The game-changer clauses:

  • 🔓 Private companies can finally generate nuclear power

  • 🌍 Up to 49% FDI allowed

  • 🛡️ Supplier liability capped — the single biggest fear that kept foreign players out for 15 years

  • 🎯 Target: 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047

That last number matters. India is at roughly 8 GW today.

It needs to grow nuclear more than 12x in two decades.


🧩 The quiet twist

Holtec's SMR-300 tech stays proprietary. That doesn't leave American hands.
