Picture this.
Two young Tamil actors, already famous, lean across the aisle and make a quiet pact.
"One day, one of us will produce a film for the other."
Then life happened.
40 years of it.
This Wednesday in Chennai, that promise finally became a clapboard.
Kamal Haasan stood next to Rajinikanth and announced he is officially producing the Superstar's 173rd film.
The title? 'Dharman'.
The banner? Kamal's own Raaj Kamal Films International.
Four decades. One handshake. Finally cashed in.
"About 40 years ago, during a flight to Bombay, we decided one of us should produce a film for the other," Kamal said at the launch. "That has been realised today."
This isn't a nostalgia project. It's stacked.
A family entertainer. With thriller bones. And Rajini in a stethoscope.
Tell me you're not already buying tickets.
Here's the part that stopped the room cold.
Kamal told Rajini he didn't want to hear the story.
Didn't want to vet the script.
Didn't want a single creative note.
"Kamal gave me complete freedom… he wouldn't even ask for the story," Rajini said. "That placed a huge responsibility on me."
In an industry built on ego, that's not producing.
That's friendship written into a contract.
'Dharman' isn't even the only Rajini–Kamal reunion in motion.
The other one — 'KH x RK' — is being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
And this one puts them on screen together for the first time in decades.
The last time these two shared a frame was back in the K. Balachander era of the 70s — Apoorva Raagangal, Moondru Mudichu, Ninaithale Inikkum.
A whole generation of fans has never seen them in the same shot.
Two legends. 50+ years of friendship. 100+ years of combined stardom.
And somehow, the best chapter might still be ahead.
The clapboard struck on Wednesday.
Cameras rolled.
A promise made at 30,000 feet finally landed.
Tamil cinema just got its movie of the decade.
That's all for now!
