Picture this.
A guy unlocks his dream life — a swanky flat, a stunning neighbour, all the rom-com vibes you could ask for.
Then he peeks through the keyhole at midnight…
and stares straight into the face of a bat-headed beast. 🦇
That's the cold-open of 'Immortal' — G V Prakash's next swing at the box office.
And it's finally locking a date.
July 23. Worldwide. Theatres only.
G V Prakash dropped the confirmation himself on X with a single line:
👉 "#Immortal from July 23 in theatres."
Directed by Mariyappan Chinna, shot wrapped back in May.
The film will roll out in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada — a proper pan-India play for a genre flick.
The teaser is sneakier than it looks.
It opens like a flirty romance.
That's when the floor drops out.
The romance curdles. The horror crawls in. And the "perfect neighbour" fantasy turns into something that watches you back.
This isn't a bedroom-budget indie. Look at the names:
Produced by Arunkumar Dhanasekaran under AK Film Factory.
G V Prakash is in a very interesting phase of his career.
He's a music composer first, an actor second — and his filmography has been a rollercoaster of big bets and quiet misses.
Horror, though?
That's the genre Tamil cinema keeps minting hits in. Low budget. High return. Pure word-of-mouth fuel.
One good scare can flip a career.
One bad one… and the bat-faced beast becomes a meme.
A romantic-comedy hook. A supernatural punch. A multi-language drop. A composer-turned-hero hunting a comeback.
Immortal has all the ingredients of a sleeper hit.
July 23 will tell us if the bat bites… or flies away.
That's all for now!
