Burlingame, CA – Steven Wendell Davison, a 66-year-old resident of Marana, Arizona, has been charged by the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office with one felony count of possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The charges include an enhancement for possessing more than 600 images, a detail initially reported by journalist Henry K. Lee. This significant legal action follows the discovery of digital devices left behind at a hotel near San Francisco International Airport.

The devices were found on March 2 at the Grand Hyatt at SFO in Burlingame by a hotel worker, who promptly turned them over to hotel security, according to authorities. Hotel security then contacted the San Francisco International Airport Bureau of the San Francisco Police Department, initiating a multi-agency investigation into the matter.

The subsequent probe involved collaborative efforts from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, the San Francisco Police Department, and the Marana Police Department. This investigation led to Davison's arrest in Arizona on May 22. A search warrant executed at Davison's residence in May reportedly uncovered additional evidence, as noted by KRON4.

Davison was extradited to San Mateo County on May 28 and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, where he is being held without bail. He was expected to be arraigned in San Mateo County Superior Court shortly after his extradition. If convicted of the felony charge and its enhancement, Davison faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison, officials confirmed.
