
India just got its monsoon.
Every inch of the country is covered.
And yet — the reservoirs are running dry.
166 major reservoirs.
Just 32.38% full.
That's 63% less water than this exact same week last year.
Wait. The monsoon reached every state. So how is the water vanishing.
It's not that India got less rain.
It's that the rain forgot how to behave.
Some regions are flooding.
Others are bone dry.
No fixed timing. No fixed intensity.
Climate change doesn't reduce rainfall — it scrambles it.
Forget the reservoirs for a second.
Look at this instead:

Here's the part nobody talks about.
A human being needs 2-3 litres of drinking water a day.
Delhi supplies 165 litres per person, daily.
Most of it — bathed, washed, drained. Never reused.
Now compare that to Israel.
A country that recycles 60-70% of its water for farming.
Same planet. Completely different mindset.
By 2050, India's water demand is projected to be double its supply.
Meanwhile:
💦 Only ~8% of India's rainwater is actually stored
🌾 Irrigation systems use just 30-40% of the water they draw
🚿 Long-distance pipelines leak away 40-50% before it reaches a tap
Cities now pull water from 90-150 km away, because local lakes and ponds were left to die decades ago.
Experts aren't asking for one silver bullet.
They're asking for a mindset shift:
🪣 Harvest rainwater at scale
♻️ Recycle wastewater like Israel does
🌊 Revive local lakes instead of piping water from 100km away
🚰 Fix leaking pipelines before building new dams
Building bigger reservoirs won't save India.
Using water like it's actually scarce — that might.
