Stress didn't just live in the head.

The stressed mice lost big populations of Lactobacillus reuteri — a friendly gut bug tied to immune balance, lower inflammation, and even mood regulation.

And with it went spermidine.

The what?

Spermidine is a naturally occurring compound your gut microbes help produce. It's a bit of a superstar:

  • 🧹 Clears out damaged cells (autophagy)

  • ❤️ Linked to lower cardiovascular risk

  • 🛡️ Nicknamed a "fountain of youth" molecule for immune aging

When stress killed the bugs, spermidine crashed too.


🩸 And then… the bone marrow started aging

Here's the part that stopped me cold.

Without spermidine signaling back up, the mice's hematopoietic stem cells — the master factory of every blood and immune cell you have — began to fade.

Lymphocyte production dropped.

Immune resilience weakened.

The body basically started aging on the inside… because the mind was overwhelmed on the outside.
